The projected time span of this project is three years of growth hormone use. During the first year that Oscar takes growth hormone, we want to monitor for effects, side effects, and make sure that his growth plates do not fuse early (which would make it impossible to get him to grow any more). For this reason, this project will be completed one year at a time. Once we know that the growth hormone is successful, we will create projects for years two and three.
Due to a generous sponsorship by Pfizer, Oscar has been receiving growth hormone injections for the past three months. He has already benefitted from the treatment and we are pleased to report that with the aid of the growth hormone Oscar has grown 1 centimeter per month!
This project is to fund the cost of the continuation of his growth hormone treatment from April through November of 2014, which is when we will be eligible to apply for another three months of support from Pfizer. Please help this teenager complete his first year of growth hormone therapy and continue to grow! We hope that Oscar can attain a stature that is within the normal range for his age. It will help him to feel more confident and he will not stick out among his peers. Our doctors have noted that this is the ideal time for him to take growth hormone, since he is still developing throughout his teenage years. You can make a big difference in Oscar's life!
