The girls home on the island called Casa Sagrado Corazon de Jesus currently houses over 90 girls ages 7 to 17 years old. They are split up into dormitories depending on their age. The sections with the youngest girls are called “chicas”.
The girls have their own kitchen, which is located in the same building as the dormitories. Under a covered porch, the cooks create most of the meals by firewood.
Before every meal the girls line up in formation while one of the girls leads a prayer. After their meals they have assigned chores like cleaning the dining room or washing the plates. At night they can visit the library to study, play games or chat with their friends.
