Casa Suyapa is home to our youngest children under the age of seven. The youngest children up to the age of four attend a morning Montessori program within the house.
The older kids go to a Montessori program at the Rancho Santa Fe School. This program helps develop social and academic skills, and the children also start learning English. They also participate in other activities like hikes, camping trips, swimming and arts and crafts.
The Casa Suyapa staff consists of care givers (called tios and tias), volunteers, and night guards and personnel for cleaning and laundry. The living quarters surround a garden with playground equipment.
This house is vitally important to the progress and success of NPH. Most of the young children who come to us in this critical stage of development are malnourished, abused and neglected. Through the nurturing of the staff and volunteers, these little ones receive the extra special attention they desperately need.
