Rancho Santa Fe clinics provide health care to our children, staff and members of surrounding communities. Our internal clinic is staffed 24 hours a day and designed to meet all of our children’s basic medical needs. A doctor from a nearby town attends to the children in the evenings along with a volunteer physician. When a child needs specific treatment, we take them to specialists in Tegucigalpa.
The central pharmacy is close to the internal clinic and is the clearing house for all medical donations and distribution to both clinic sites. We also have an annex to our clinic which serves as an infirmary and where new children stay upon arriving at our home.
Our external clinic is open five days a week and serves patients from poor neighboring communities. Unlike most public health centers, our clinic can provide prescribed medicines immediately free of charge and laboratory results the same day.
Near the external clinic resides our outpatient surgical center, the special project of a Minnesota orthopedic surgeon. The center plans to give a place for visiting brigades to operate and to train Honduran surgeons.
The NPH medical team also participates in medical brigades, serving communities that don’t have a doctor. Also our on-site dental clinic serves our children and nearby neighbors.
