The farm is constantly growing in size and importance. Our home feeds close to 600 children plus 180 employees and 25 volunteers on a daily basis. Staff and NPH youth milk our dairy cows twice daily using a donated machine. This allows for cleaner, quicker milk production – in total about 300 liters of milk daily.
Meanwhile, some 1500 hens produce eggs for us to eat and sell while we raise another 2,000 for a new production cycle, and another 900 chickens are slaughtered every two weeks. We also have pigs used for special holiday meals.
Along with seven employees and a few year of service pequeños, they are responsible for working in the fields, planting and harvesting corn used for cow feed, herding and milking the cows, and collecting eggs.
