Celebration of the Independence Anniversary September 18, 2012 - Nicaragua
September 7th and 8th have been two great days at NPH Nicaragua. Casa Padre Wasson celebrated the Independence of the country.
The Independence Day March in Casa Padre Wasson
Nicaragua formed part of the Spanish ‘Captaincy General of Guatemala,’ which included the territories from Costa Rica up to Chiapas (nowadays a region in the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico). Notions regarding independence reached the region and the leaders started a negotiation process that ended in September 1821. This is when they wrote the Act of Independence, which was recognized by the representatives of the Spanish crown.
In Casa Padre Wasson, the celebrations started Friday morning with a march into the house with traditional music and dress. At the end of the march, the students re-enacted different moments of important history including the ratification and the independence of the country.
The following day, a delegation of NPH representativs went to the close city of Santa Teresa to represent NPH in the celebrations for the Carazo region.
This was an opportunity to show the communities the pride and the hard work that exists in NPH. It was also a great opportunity for the kids to know more about other towns, and enjoy how other schools and institutes celebrate this important day. The rest of the day was been spent playing games and activities.
