NPH Peru is celebrating Godparents Day
Thank you for your beautiful commitment
June 5, 2012 - Peru
Every year we celebrate a special event at our NPH home, Godparents Day. When it comes to celebrations at NPH Peru, our youth group is asked to prepare them. As usual it was a big success. We had a wonderful day full of different games and activities. At the end of the day, we had a tasteful barbeque that we enjoyed outside.
Despite the financial crisis and the fact that we have to save as much money as we can, we were able to give our children a very special day to honor our godparents. Godparents are for our children something like a part of their families.
Our whole family is saying, "THANK YOU!"
Many of our children have a special connection to their Godfathers and Godmothers. Their eyes begin to shine once they are asked about them. They proudly will tell you everything they know about them, where they come from, that their children are having a wedding, what’s their favorite dish is, etc. The pictures and the letters that they get are kept like treasures. Therefore, we dedicate once a year to this very special day and to our loyal benefactors.
The day started at 10:00 am, however the organization already began weeks before. Plenty of different games were organized for big and small and there were prizes for the winners and the participants. Some games were played inside our dining-hall whereas a volleyball and bicycle competition took place outside. Even the very little kids participated!
After having spent lots of energy, we had a great barbeque. We ate chicken, potatoes, and rice with a special Peruvian cream as it is the favorite dish of our pequeños. You may be overwhelmed by the quantity of food that even the smallest kids are able to eat! Just when you think they have finished and won´t be able to move, they will repeat and keep eating. It´s truly incredible! At the end of the barbeque we also enjoyed a very big cake.
“I don´t find words to describe what I feel about our Godparents! I just can say that they are people with a big and wonderful heart. Most of them don´t know us, but they are willing to support us. Look, if it was not because of our Godparents we would not have clothes, food or this wonderful day. They open their hearts and help us unconditionally”, states Mili who is 17-years-old.
On behalf of our whole family at NPH Peru we truly want to thank you for your beautiful commitment! You should know that you make a difference by helping us to build a future for our children. It is so important for them to know that there are people who are concerned about them, who do take care for others without even knowing them.
