Susy is in second grade at our NPH El Salvador school. Every day, she wakes up, gets ready, and walks to class. Susy lives with her parents and her little 4-year-old brother, just 10 minutes away from the place that has changed her young life.

Susy started attending NPH when she was 6 years old, in 2017, when our Childcare Center started. She is now part of Fr. Wasson’s Scholarships program. Since the beginning of her experience with NPH, she has accomplished and grown a lot, with memories like graduating kindergarten in 2017 and receiving her First Communion in 2018 highlighting her story.

Susy’s family situation is difficult. Her father works as a farmer and her mother helps with the crops during harvest time. They both work hard to provide for their children, but it is still very tough to provide everything that is needed.

Patty, Susy’s mother, says “I think my daughter will have a brighter future by attending NPH, because she is able to study. Receiving a good education is difficult for children nowadays, but she is building the foundation she needs for the future and I am very thankful for that.”

Susy was one of the first girls to be part of the external daycare program. During her first months at NPH, she was very shy and quiet. Nowadays, she is happy all the time; it is evident that she enjoys being at school.

She feels comfortable at NPH. According to the director of the external program, Susy is very intelligent, gets good grades all the time, and has a wide range of talents. She is really good at acting and dancing!

Being part of the scholarship program, Susy receives proper nutrition through the balanced meals she gets at NPH. According to Patty, her daughter had an unhealthily low weight when she started studying at NPH. She is now growing to a healthy size and she is full of energy that she uses to study and play with her friends.

Our external students also benefit from NPH’s high-quality healthcare. They receive general checkups from our doctors in the clinic. These checkups allow the doctors to stay up-to-date on the well-being of the child. They also connect the doctor to the student’s family so that they can learn habits that will help support the child as they grow older and develop.

Day by day, as Susy encounters different adventures at NPH, her parents are noticing the change in her life. They are very thankful for the opportunity NPH provides them, because their daughter receives a full education, medical care, and a healthy daily diet, all of it in a place that is close to their home.

Thanks to NPH’s support, Susy is very healthy and full of dreams. When she grows up, she wants to be a chef and learn to prepare all sorts of delicious foods.
