Position Description:
The nonprofit One World Surgery (www.oneworldsurgery.org) operates an ambulatory surgery center located on the grounds of NPH Dominican Republic. The Communications and Operations Assistant will provide strategic day-to-day support for the Communications team located in Chicago and Chief Executive Officer to ensure the ongoing caliber of One World Surgery’s work and communication with internal and external partners and donors. This volunteer will also support the operations team (Medical Director and Programs Coordinator) with tasks related to patient care, preparation and execution of Primary Care medical missions, networking, and research.
Position Requirements:
- Qualified candidates will have a university degree or prior experience in any health-related, communications, or administrative field (communications, biology, chemistry, public health, public administration, etc.)
- Successful volunteers at NPH have strong leadership skills, are resilient and flexible, and work well in teams.
Language Requirements:
Strong Spanish language skills are critical for success as a volunteer with NPH. NPH tests Spanish language skills of candidates invited for an interview. Applicants who do not have an adequate level of Spanish will be required to attend immersion school prior to beginning service with NPH at their own expense.
Age Requirements:
NPH accepts volunteers at least 21 years of age or older.
