Combating Childhood Diseases
NPH Bolivia - Healthcare   Very Urgent!

Vaccines at the home

NPH Bolivia takes great care in ensuring that each youth receives the best possible quality of healthcare.

Vaccinations: At NPH Bolivia when older children are admitted at the home, we provide them with adult vaccines for their protection. We also try to provide additional vaccinations such as Hepatitis A.

Tuberculosis Prevention: Tuberculosis is highly endemic and a major public health problem in Bolivia. While in industrialized countries, TB incidence rates vary between 3.2 (USA) and 8.1 (Germany), incidence in Bolivia is as high as 117 per 100,000 population. While inactive tuberculosis only develops into active (and contagious) tuberculosis in about 10% of cases, it is still important to try to identify inactive tuberculosis. The funds for this project will help us conduct a screening for all our children via PPD skin test. This would allow us to identify latent cases and conduct treatment.

Laboratories: General laboratory exams would help NPH ensure that we are taking every precautionary measure to detect cases that require medical care early on.
