NPH El Salvador is a home for over 250 children which was founded in 1999. One of our most important missions is to keep our children healthy so they can live well and grow up strong, which is why we have a clinic that is open 24 hours a day.
Our clinic has a full-time doctor and four nurses who take turns to cover 24-hour shifts. There is also an administrative assistant who assists the team. Our medical staff treat everything from from the flu to broken bones, and are also in charge of administering vaccines and medication.
Our doctor attends about 50 patients per week and receives children who have symptoms like fever, headaches, and allergies. There are two rooms in our clinic where children can stay overnight if necessary. If children need to see a specialist, they are taken to San Salvador, the capital of our country, which is located around one hour and twenty minutes away from our home. Among the specialists our children visit are neurologists, psychiatrists, orthodontists, etc. There are around 20 to 30 children who attend at least one of these specialists per month.
Jeannette*, one of the kids at our home, lives at the clinic due to her chronic illness. She uses an oxygen tank that helps her breathe better and is under the care and supervision of a specialist, whom she visits two times per month. To do so, she is taken to the hospital in Santa Ana, the closest city of our home.
It is thanks to your help that we are able to keep our clinic open! Thank you for your support.
