On June 1st, 2009, Miguel Venegas fulfilled a dream that was implanted by Father Wasson years ago. Miguel joined the NPH Family when he was 15 years old along with his two siblings. He graduated from secondary school and then completed his year of service to the NPH family at the home in Miacatlán. Miguel then was given the opportunity to attend the unique English program in Yarnell, Arizona that Fr. Wasson founded. There he mastered the English language and passed his GED. Fr. Wasson offered him to pursue his college education in the United States at the University of Texas at Tyler. Miguel earned his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics.

After college, Miguel worked as the house director at Casa Buen Señor in NPH Mexico and then worked at American Express for one year. Fr. Wasson didn’t stop with his requests and in 1997 asked Miguel to help run the newly opened NPH home in Guatemala as the administrator and accountant. After two years in Guatemala, Miguel returned to Mexico to develop the Finance Department of NPH International, where he served as Director of Finance for six years.

“NPH has been a blessing to me and to so many children in need, and I know that I would not be where I am today without NPH. I am grateful for the opportunity to take on this leading role at NPH International. Father Wasson always dreamt of having the children of this home in leadership positions at NPH, and I am happy and proud to be part of fulfilling this dream. I will strive to continue Father Wasson’s philosophy and legacy of making a difference in the lives of children less fortunate in my new position.”

Miguel is based out of NPH International in Cuernavaca, Mexico. He is also a member of the NPHI Project Committee and NPHI Consejo Familiar and chairs the NPHI Finance Committee. He and his wife, Maria, have three children.
