Helping Break the Poverty Cycle in Mexico
Graduations 2018: kindergarten, elementary and middle school graduations.
August 5, 2018 - Mexico
Summer is always a happy time for our NPH Mexico family, and for a good reason: Graduations! This month, we celebrated kindergarten, elementary and middle school graduations in Miacatlán, and high school graduations in Casa Buen Señor, in Cuernavaca.
This year, we were honored by Mrs. Maria Cristina Gallart, the Godmother of the 2017-2018 Generation. Mrs. Gallart has been watching over our children for more than 50 years, and we are deeply appreciative for all the love she has given them.
Relatives, godparents, friends, current-and-former volunteers, and NPH staff were happy to share this day with the children, celebrating the achievement of an important goal in their lives.
In both ceremonies, the directors of homes and schools handed out diplomas to the graduates, and acknowledged the students with the highest grades in each group.
Father Phil Cleary presided over a lovely mass, where the children thanked sponsors and benefactors for accompanying them year after year to fulfill their dreams.
Father Wasson knew that education would be the vessel that carries his children out of the cycle of poverty. And in a country where opportunities can be limited for vulnerable children, NPH education provides opportunities for advanced training in the vocational or educational career they want to pursue.
On days like Graduation Day, we are especially thankful for the support that allows us to push our children towards a successful future, and even more proud of the hard work they put in to get there.
