This Summer Vacation with the Most Exciting Rhythm!
Life is more beautiful with music.
March 20, 2018 - Peru
School classes ended a few weeks ago, and our children are enjoying their summer vacation with different activities in our home. Taking advantage of their free time, our children can reinforce their personal skills and improve their emotional wellbeing through fun-filled workshops.
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, a teacher comes to our home from 3 to 9 p.m. In different age groups, children start their Afro-Peruvian dance and music classes. Our children have learned a lot about this rhythm. These workshops help them improve their motor coordination, memory, rhythm, expression and creativity. And without doubt, they enjoy it!
The dance workshop offers many benefits to children, since it gives them a sense of freedom and helps them improve their coordination. Louise*, from Casa Santa Teresa, tells us: "I go to classes with my friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Professor Luis teaches us new steps. And I like it a lot, because we dance and have fun."
On the other hand, in the music workshop, children learn how to play the Peruvian cajón, which is a percussion instrument declared as a ‘Cultural Heritage of the Nation.’ Mario,* from Casa San Martín, says: "I like to play the cajón more. The song that I like the most is ‘Toco festejo, toco, toco.’ I also like to dance, I have learned new steps of festejo (an afro-peruvian dance); although I end up tired I like it a lot. I like how our instructor teaches, because if I can’t follow him, he will teach us again. He is very patient."
At NPH Peru, we know how important it is to inculcate good habits in our children that allow for strong development. These activities help them improve different skills and moods, and increases their confidence and self-esteem. Music, beyond being an art, helps them to establish a connection between their body and mind, helping them to feel free, be creative and express themselves more. During this vacation, at NPH Peru, our children will have summer holidays with a lot of rhythm!
