It is hard to believe that the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti on 12 January 2010 is already 10 years past. I am sure for many it feels that it just happened. To this day, the massive loss of loved ones and widespread destruction have left their mark on the country and its people.

While I remember vividly the shock and pain of this horrible event, even though I was not there, I also remember the heroic and generous response of our friends, collaborators, and supporters. One of the worst events imaginable brought out the best in so many.

Today we remember and pray for those who lost their lives during this tragedy. And we send our gratitude to all of you who rushed to our side to help us in the rescue and relief work and in the development of subsequent permanent programs that provide new opportunity for a better future for many years to come.
